SAN FERNANDO VALLEY COALITION ON GANGS

We were one of 10 community organizations just awarded a small grant of $5,000 funded by the San Fernando Valley Coalition on Gangs (SFVCOG). The mission of the Coalition is to strengthen neighborhood cohesion, reduce the fear and incident of gang crime, provide services that promote positive lifestyle changes, reduce gang membership and to empower the community through education and increased awareness. Our proposal, entitled “Anger Connections for Teens!” (ACT!), is designed as a six week Anger Management Workshop to be conducted for 25 youth, recruited from the Foothill Division area. The program will improve communications skills and reduce anger impulse responses that have a potential to lead to self, family, school, neighborhood and community violence.
