On November 11, 2009, El Centro de Amistad hosted a dinner to install and welcome the Board of Directors for July 1, 2009 thru June 30, 2010. The evening was filled with fine dining and conversation. Management staff addressed strategic planning and innovative programs. Past and new Board members were enthusiastic about the future of El Centro de Amistad.

Rich Golisch President, The Irvine Group, Inc. Rich Golisch has been a member of the Board of Directors of ECDA since 2002. He owns the Irvine Group, Inc., a real estate finance development company in Orange, and is a managing partner for Golf Scotland in Southern California. During his fourteen years with UPS he served on a charitable committee that reached out to community needs. Mr. Golisch is also an avid golfer and a San Fernando Valley native. He holds an undergraduate degree in political science from California State University, Northridge, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. |

Gerald Fox Secretary, Community Advocate Gerald Fox is a native of Indiana, where he graduated from the University of Indianapolis with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He joined Eli Lilly & Company in l963, and was active in sales and sales management for thirty-five years, retiring in l999. He has been associated with ECDA for nearly three years, and is serving his second term as secretary on the Board of Directors. |

Fred Mautner Treasurer, Community Advocate Fred Mautner has served as an ECDA Board member for several years. In past years he has served as an executive or Board member for numerous corporations in the Los Angeles area, and is presently vice chairman of the Board of Directors and chair of the audit committee at Wilshire State Bank. He is also on the Board of Directors of the Housing Rights Center of Los Angeles, New Directors for Youth, Friendship Force Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles Philanthropic Committee for the Arts. He has earned a bachelor's degree in finance and a J.D. in law from UCLA. |

Doug Barnett Seargent At Arms, Community AdvocateDoug Barnett is a California native, who attended Sacramento City College and Cal State L.A. His background is thirty-eight years in all aspects of credit, residential, retail and commercial banking and finance, and real estate sales and ownership. Mr. Barnett joined El Centro de Amistad in 2002, and due to his driven passion, he was elected President of the Board for three years, also acting as interim Executive Director the first four months. Mr. Barnett is committed to improving the lives of individuals and families by ensuring that they receive efficient and comprehensive mental health supportive services like those of ECDA. |

Barry Levine
Barry has spent over twenty-five years in the Financial Services Sector with a heavy concentration in the mortgage sector. He has worked at such companies as Chase Manhattan Bank in New York City and Aames Financial Corporation in Los Angeles. His senior management positions have included running technology departments of mortgage companies as Chief Information Officer to running credit and underwriting as Chief Credit Officer. Barry has his Master of Business Administration from New York University and his Bachelor of Science in Finance and Economics from SUNY Albany. Currently he lives in Northridge, California and is working as an independent real estate investor. |

David Cruz, Sr Valley View RealtyDavid Cruz, Sr. has served as Sergeant of Arms for the ECDA Board since 2000. He is the President/CEO of Valley View Realty, Inc. in Mission Hills, CA, and has a long history of service to the San Fernando Valley community on numerous levels. He has served his country in the United States Marine Corp and through his career in aerospace. Mr. Cruz cherishes his involvement with ECDA because he is dedicated to helping young people develop into productive members of society. |

J. Irene Smerigan
Retired educator and founding principal of Pacoima Charter School. I was in education for 38 years as a teacher, coordinator, advisor, Assistant Principal and Principal, for 21 of the 38 years. I worked in the Pacoima/San Fernando/Sylmar area for the majority of my career. As an advisor and administrator, I participated in parent councils and parent organizations. As the Principal/Executive Director from 2003-2008, I was responsible for and monitored a $12M budget of the charter school; and networked with community agencies to improve communications with and bring resources to the school. Presently am involved in working with Pacoima Charter as the Oversight Administrator involved in a construction project and in acquiring funding for facilities projects. |

Carmen Ramos Chandler
Carmen Ramos Chandler is Director of News and Information for California State University Northridge. She joined the board of El Centro de Amistad in December 2008. She is vice president of the Board of Directors of the California Association of Human Relations Organizations, a statewide organization that deals with racial, gender, sexual orientation, religious and other human relations issues in California. Chandler recently finished a six-year term as member of the Community Advisory Board for KCET, Los Angeles’ public television station. She is an active supporter of the CHIME Institute, a national leader in development and implementing model educational programs and dynamic research and training environments to disseminate best practices in inclusive education. Chandler is married and the mother of two. |

Tim Robinson UPS Tim Robinson has served on the Board of Directors of ECDA since 2004. He has been with United Parcel Service (UPS) since l975, and is presently the Vice President of the UPS West Los Angeles District. Mr. Robinson is a graduate of the University of North Alabama in Florence, Alabama with a degree in business management. His community involvements include Board member of Los Angeles Urban League, as well as service as a Board member of Children and Families of Iowa, Greater Des Moines Area United Way, North Florida Area United Way, and Alexis de Tocqueville Society United Way. |

JEFFREY M. GALEN
Jeffrey M. Galen is a litigator and senior partner in the Encino based law firm Galen & Davis, LLP. He specializes in corporate litigation representing numerous fortune 500 corporations throughout the United States. Mr. Galen is also active in the protection of individual civil rights and has been lead counsel in numerous high profile cases in preservation of victim’s rights. He has appeared as a guest speaker both nationally and internationally on CNN, Fox News, ABC and other major networks. Previously Mr. Galen served as Chairman of the Board of New Directions for Youth. He received a Humanitarian Award in 2005 for his ongoing commitment to At Risk youths and their families. Mr. Galen has received Congressional Recognition by the United States Congress, as well as being recognized by the United States House Of Representatives, the California State Assembly, the California State Senate and the City of Los Angeles. Mr. Galen is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, Trial Lawyers of America and practices in both State and Federal courts throughout the United States. |
